Insider Guide: All you need to check out in Cape Town this month

We’ve rounded up some of the latest homes, exhibitions, and restaurants to visit in Cape Town in September

What to do, who to see and where to eat – Cape Town is never short on newness. Spring is around the corner and the city is slowly waking up for the bustling summer season.  If you’re planning a trip to the Mother City, plan out your trip and add these events, restaurants and stays to your calendar.

Have a quick look at what the Art House Collection team has curated the best things to experience this month.

EAT

La Trip Club & Social

A new addition to the city centre, La Trip Club & Social is located just off Buitengracht Street, and is in pretty good company close to the popular Athletic Club & Social. The space is perfect for after work drinks and the chic interiors are the work of renowned designer, Tristan du Plessis. The restaurant has recently opened their doors to the public so keep an eye on social media to find out more about booking your spot.

SEE

You to Me, Me to You

Located in the heart of the city centre in District Six, the A4 Art Foundation is an art gallery we’ve featured here on Art House before. If you happen to be in the Mother City, add You to Me, Me to You to your agenda. According to the official site, this show is a love letter in the form of an exhibition curated by Francisco Berzunza. “Love can be the desire – and the frustration – of becoming one with another,” says Berzunza. The show runs from 12 August to 18 November 2023 and the gallery trading hours are Monday to Friday 10am to 5:30pm, and Saturdays 10am to 2pm.

An Act of Faith

In case you missed it, Spier Wine Farm is back with another stellar exhibition, An Act of Faith, which features more than 40 ceramic artworks by artists from across the country. While each artwork is unique, certain core themes have emerged. Take a walk around the farm and see what some incredible ceramic artists have created for this event. Another key component of the event is that some of the featured artists have prioritised working with recycled clay, repurposed from pre-loved creations, aligning with Spier's sustainability and regenerative principles.

An Act of Faith runs from 23 June to 23 October 2023, 9am to 5pm daily, and is located at the Old Wine Cellar.
