While the nine rooms and suites within the Manor House on Leeu Estates offer a sophisticated boutique hotel experience, families and multi-generational travellers – along with those savouring additional privacy – may prefer the collection of beautifully curated estate cottages, offering the perfect blend of exclusivity, seclusion and service.

Set just a short walk from the Manor House, cottage guests enjoy access to all of the estate’s facilities, from inspired fine dining at the Le chêne and La Petite Colombe restaurants, to tutored tastings in the The Wine Studio. Guests also enjoy seamless access to the Leeu Spa by Healing Earth.

The magnificent outdoor sculpture exhibitions and indoor gallery at Everard Read Leeu Estates are equally easy to access, set just a few minutes’ wander through the estate’s manicured gardens.

But it is the secluded embrace of each cottage that attracts most travellers, and here you’ll be happily ensconced in your own private corner of the Franschhoek winelands.

For couples seeking a romantic country bolthole you’d be hard-pressed to beat Fynbosch Cottage. It’s a destination escape nothing short of gorgeous; a modern interpretation of traditional Cape architecture from the graceful gables to the archway of klompie pavers that frames the front door. Inside, your gaze will be drawn from the soaring eaves and high ceilings to the striking signature wallpaper of the spacious lounge. A separate master suite is decorated with creative contemporary flair, spilling out onto a private garden featuring both plunge pool and hot tub, along with a private sundeck. Set above the vineyards; expect glorious mountain views from almost every angle.

The other cottages in the collection are no less impressive, from the family-friendly heritage charm of the Cellar Cottage to the contemporary style of Max House, a spacious escape offering an Executive Suite and two Classic Rooms that share a living room and dining room spilling onto a private garden.

Vineyard Cottage, where two rooms share a lounge and magnificent terrace, includes a dedicated plunge pool with panoramic mountain views. Protea House is the perfect choice for larger families, with three spacious interleading rooms and suites leading out onto the farmhouse verandah and enjoying a private pool, spacious living area, expansive terrace and separate pool house.

Across the cottages you’ll find the carefully eye for service and sophistication that has become the hallmark of Leeu Estates. Butler service comes standard at all cottages, while works from the owner’s private art collection provide a subtle thread of creativity evident throughout the estate.
