At times it feels more Cuba than Clifton, yet glimpses of Lion's Head through the skylight and the Southern Cross at night are reminders that this is the tip of Africa‍
Explore this stay

As seaside escapes go, it doesn’t get much closer to the waves than this restored bungalow on Cape Town’s famous Clifton 4th beach. Perched against the rocks, with white sands and crisp, blue waters a few steps away, Heaven on Fourth is a romantic retreat that invites complete escape

The Lowdown

As one of only a handful of bungalows along the shoreline, with views of both sea and mountain, this charming beach house caters to families and friends with one thing in mind: complete bliss. From long days swimming and tanning in the private garden to barbecues on the deck at sundown (even in the wind, Clifton is protected) and peaceful nights sleeping to the rhythm of waves, the property is designed to make the most of its incredible setting. At times it feels more Cuba than Clifton, yet glimpses of Lion's Head through the skylight and the Southern Cross from the outdoor shower at night are reminders that this is indeed the tip of Africa

Sleeping Arrangements

Heaven on Fourth has four, individually decorated rooms, two en-suite (with queen-size beds) and two that share a bathroom (with double beds)

What To Expect

Need a break from all that beach time? Kick back in the Scandinavian-style sauna or catch up on that vacation reading on one of the oversized sofas or sun loungers. Entertaining here is easy, thanks to the fully-appointed kitchen (complete with amethyst inlaid counters, which double as a fun cocktail-hour gathering spot) and generous alfresco dining room table that looks onto the ocean

The Art House Difference

All-white walls, floors and linen are a calming foil for an impressive collection of works, many adding bolts of bright colour to the interiors. From the first Jack Vettriano, the catalyst for the collection, and a Montserrat Gudiol (a lucky junk-shop find in Kalk Bay) to the Kirsten Sims and bold works by Mustafa Maluka hanging side-by-side in the living area, this is an intensely personal collection
